Mayor Mamdani and DOT announced Wed May 13 an eastbound Q70 bus lane on Broadway from 69th Street to Roosevelt Avenue in Queens to speed the free LaGuardia airport shuttle ahead of next month's FIFA World Cup. The Q70 currently averages under 3 mph through that corridor. Second WC-pegged transit initiative after the planned cyclist-only entry to the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. Mamdani: "Arriving in New York City should be fast, affordable and reliable all year round — not just during major events." Tracks alongside the April appointment of Elizabeth Adams (formerly Transportation Alternatives) as Senior Advisor for Fast and Free Buses.
