Mamdani Launches "Organize NYC" Civic Engagement Drive for RGB Hearings

Mayor Mamdani announced the "Organize NYC" initiative to mobilize public participation in city government. The opening campaign focuses on tenant testimony at the upcoming Rent Guidelines Board hearings in June, where the first of Mamdani's pledged four consecutive rent freezes will be voted on. Mamdani has appointed 6 of 9 RGB members including chair Chantella Mitchell. The initiative pairs civic-engagement infrastructure with the rent-freeze political ask and serves as the administration's first explicit grassroots organizing program.
