NYC Mayor + Commission on Human Rights Commissioner Clarke, w/ Mayor's Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs (Director Taylor Brown) + DOHMH, launched the "Trans Rights are Human Rights" citywide awareness campaign Mon Jun 1 to kick off Pride Month. Artist Dez Stavracos designed banners + paper ads + electric kiosks running throughout June. Driver: gender-identity-based complaints to CHR jumped from 5% of all complaints (FY20) to nearly 20% (FY25) — a 4x rise to a 5-year high. Mamdani: "At a time when the federal government is fueling attacks on trans people across this country, New York City is making something clear: We will protect your rights, defend your humanity and stand beside you without hesitation."
