Mamdani and Hochul Unveil Free FIFA World Cup Fan Zones in All Five Boroughs

Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani announced Monday, April 28 that each NYC borough will host an official FIFA fan zone with live game viewings and local food during the 2026 World Cup, all free of charge. State will contribute approximately $20M toward the fan zones. Mamdani framed the program as accessibility for New Yorkers who cannot afford record-high stadium ticket prices. Comes one day after the pair announced the eight matches at MetLife Stadium ("New York New Jersey Stadium" for the tournament).
