Mamdani and Hochul to Detail NYC/NJ FIFA World Cup Plans at Staten Island Press Conference

Mayor Mamdani and Governor Hochul will hold a 1pm Monday, April 27 press conference on Staten Island to announce details of NYC/NJ's eight FIFA World Cup matches this summer at MetLife Stadium (rebranded "New York New Jersey Stadium" for the tournament): five group-stage games, one Round of 32 match, one Round of 16 match, and the final. The announcement is the city's first major coordinated event with Albany since the pied-à-terre tax rollout, and comes amid the 6th budget extender expiring today.
