Mamdani is making his biggest swing yet at the city's congressional delegation, backing three challengers against established Dems ahead of the Jun 23 primary. He endorsed Brad Lander (his former ranked-choice cross-endorser) against Rep. Dan Goldman in the Manhattan/Brooklyn split district; State Assembly Member Claire Valdez against Brooklyn BP Antonio Reynoso (Rep. Nydia Velazquez's pick) in a Brooklyn/Queens seat; and organizer Darializa Avila Chevalier against Rep. Adriano Espaillat (Congressional Hispanic Caucus chair) in a Bronx/Manhattan district. NBC News calls it "high-risk, high-reward" — a Courthouse News poll already puts Lander ahead after Mamdani+Sanders nods. NY1 framed Lander race as the key endorsement-power test back in April.
