AG Letitia James publicly endorsed Mamdani's Friday appointment of Edwin Raymond — her former Social Justice Liaison and the 2015 NYPD arrest-quota suit lead plaintiff — as NYC Sheriff, saying Raymond "understands that true public safety requires public trust" and praising his "integrity, compassion, and a deep commitment to justice." Ousted Sheriff Anthony Miranda had faced calls from his own union to resign plus federal and local probes into Operation Padlock cash-seizure allegations dating to 2024.
