CORE Chair Replacement Fight — Mamdani Taps NAACP NY Leader, Council Rallies Behind Linda Tigani

Mamdani (Oct 28 via theGrio) named NAACP NY State Conference leader to chair the Commission on Racial Equity (CORE); City & State NY (Oct 29) reported a bloc of Councilmembers rallied around current chair Linda Tigani, confirmed under Adams in 2024 and architect of the city's racial-equity planning process. Yahoo (Oct 30) framed it as Mamdani "walking back" the ouster. Fight unfolds against the April DOJ "Racial Equity Plan" investigation and the broader "no Black deputy mayors" criticism Mamdani has faced since Jan. First substantive City Hall vs Council personnel fight in weeks; a petition on ActionNetwork to keep Tigani circulated same window.
