Pied-à-Terre Tax Database Backlash — "Doxxing" Framing + Bronx-Home Errors

Randy Mastro sued Aug 7 on behalf of three homeowners over Mamdani's pied-à-terre tax, alleging the 900K+ home public list "doxxed" owners and that Bronx homes were wrongly captured. Justice Ozzi (Richmond County) granted a TRO Aug 10; Appellate Division, Second Department stayed the pause Aug 13 so collections continued. City then extended the collection deadline to Oct 6 after ~17,000 property owners won appeals off the rolls. Oral arguments on the TRO merits are today Aug 31 before Justice Ozzi. Trump has publicly threatened federal counter-action.

Update 2026-09-01: Ozzi held oral argument Aug 31 on whether the TRO should stand while the appeal proceeds; ruling deferred "in the coming days." Appellate stay from Aug 13 remains in force, collection deadline Oct 6 unchanged, ~17K appeal wins to date.
